Post-Christmas Exhaustion

post Christmas tired spellOh boy. Well the holidays somehow managed to come and go. Right now I feel like one of those cartoons where the character is just standing around, minding their own business when something/someone whizzes by at super-speed and the cartoon, as a result, gets spun in whirls of circles! That and tired. I mostly I feel tired.

Christmas always sneaks up on me, and before I know it, it’s back to work I go! How did that even work this year? We spent all weekend (plus Monday – Christmas Eve, and Tuesday – Christmas Day) running around, place to place. The house was a complete mess when we finally made it home around 10:30pm on Christmas Day. Then it was up and at ’em on Wednesday morning, time to work! I tell you, my eyes weren’t even working until at least 10am.Sleepy Taz

Hubby got me a Kitchenaid mixer for Christmas, and some new winter boots (he got me Ugg winter lace-up boots but we returned them for Sorels) they are adorable, and tall, and warm! Just what I needed! πŸ™‚ As for the Kitchenaid mixer, I told him that I would think about keeping it. Which is usually what I always tell him when he has spent way too much on a gift for me. I did it with my iPhone, the iPad, and now the mixer. We’ll see.

For now, the promise of Friday is what keeps me going. That and long naps after work!!

From who I’ve talked to, I’m not alone in the post-Christmas exhaustion spell. Can you relate? If so, have you got any tips on how to get past the no-good-very-bad-grogginess?

One more day til the weekend!

Holiday Berry Nog Recipe (Eggnog Variation)

If you’ve hosted a holiday party, you know that planning the food and drinks can be tricky. The traditional foods are easy, and comfortable. But if you want something on the side this year that will delight and please, then you have to up your anti in the drink department. And, I know that we all struggle with those ‘holiday pounds’ this time of year, so why not make your sweet drinks also healthy? It is possible, and very yummy as well!

Here’s a recipe I wanted to share with you, provided by Driscoll’s Berries!

holiday berry nog

Holiday Berry Nog

Servings: 4

  • 1 package (6 ounces) Driscoll’s Raspberries, Blackberries or Blueberries
  • 1 1/2 packages Driscoll’s Strawberries, hulled
  • 1 cup purchased eggnog
  • 1/8 tsp ground cinnamon, plus extra for garnish
  • 4 cinnamon sticks

Blend 1 cup berries, eggnog and cinnamon in a blender on medium speed until smooth. Pour eggnog mixture into glasses. Garnish with remaining berries, sprinkle with cinnamon. Place cinnamon stick into each glass and serve immediately.

Before filling glasses, dampen rims and dip into mixture of cinnamon and sugar.

How cute are these? Find some cute little cups and you’ve got yourself a cute little treat for after dinner as dessert or as a little late night treat (depending on how long your family’s holidays last…)

Let me know if you’re going to try this recipe, and let me know how it goes!

Thanks to Driscoll’s for this recipe! πŸ™‚

Love, M – Eye Cream Coffee Bean Caffeine by 100% Pure: Review & Giveaway

This contest has now ended. Congratulations Kelly M on winning a tube of Coffee Bean Caffeine Eye Cream from!!

logo-good-earth-beautyFor some reason, I am always super tired. No matter how much sleep I get, I somehow seem to still yawn all day long, and have the pleasure of wearing big bags under my eyes. Usually I use concealer but it would just be nice to get straight to the source.

eye cream

That’s why I asked if I could try this Eye Cream Coffee Bean Caffeine by 100% Pure. It’s 100% natural, 100% vegan and gluten free! Which is wonderful, especially after the allergic reaction I had on my face last week (from an OTC face wash – oye!) but with this natural approach, I was confident that it wouldn’t irritate my skin. And it didn’t! It goes on so smoothly, wonderfully and even has kind of had a coffee-like scent.

The eye cream has anti-inflammatory properties. It contains caffeine-rich green tea and coffee, and aims to depuff your eye areas, while increasing circulation which then brightens any dark circles.

“Concentrated with potent anti-aging vitamins, antioxidants, and nourishing rosehip oil to make eye area look more awake and more youthful. Truly, 100% Pure.”

I’ve been using it for a couple days and it seems to be moisturizing along with depuffing! My eyes do look a little more youthful as well πŸ™‚ I’m liking it! I don’t expect to see dramatic results within just a couple of days – I will update you guys though as the time goes on!

If you don’t want to wait to see if you win this giveaway, you can purchase a tube for yourself! They range from $9.50 to $16.50 (depending on size, I believe).

It’s nice to have something that will minimize those persistent dark circles. Especially now when you are stressed, limited on sleep, and yet still having to go to holiday parties for work, friends, family, etc.
