best birchbox item winners

1. Eyeko Skinny Liquid Eyeliner – I’m obsessed. I’ve tried so many different liquid eyeliners and have never liked one. This one is a mild line, with no smudge. It’s just drastic enough to work, but not make you look too ‘dark’.

2. Mary-Lou Manizer theBALM Eye Shimmer – Need a little boost on the old eyelids? This golden/beige shimmer is perfect for any occasion. It’s not too out there, it’s just the perfect amount of shimmer for a grown woman. I adore it to pieces.

3. Embryolisse Lait-Crème Concentrè (24-Hour Miracle Cream) – I have been using this stuff everyday and absolutely love it. My skin is so dry in the winter and I’ve never found such an awesome moisturizer that could keep up with my dry, flaky skin. This stuff works way too good. I’ll definitely be using this for a long time.

4. Miracle Skin Transformer™ Vanish Instant Imperfection Corrector – Do you have any dark spots on your face from zits from Christmas past? This stuff is what you need. Place a dab of this cream on any dark skin spots and be prepare to see a difference. This stuff actually works. Love it!

If you have a favorite Birchbox item that you’ve received, post it in the comments. We’re all in the market for learning about great new products!! 🙂

This Puppy is Driving Me Crazy!

the crazy puppyYes, I am aware that I haven’t blogged in a while. And here’s why… we got a puppy.

My husband decided that we needed one. We needed a puppy like we need a burglar, a teething toddler, and anything else that relates to the many fun habits that a dog has.

Just writing that first sentence took 10 minutes because I had to fight her off every little thing in the house.

I’m kinda over this stage though.

The pup is getting into everything right now. And taking her out to go potty in this -15°F weather is not really working for me right now lol.

She eats her own poop. I put hot sauce on it all so that she wouldn’t eat it. It worked for a while, until she started eating the neighbor dog’s poop! I can’t win.

In the meantime, I think I may need a tall glass of wine. That seems like it would get me through the puppy stage.

PS- I really do love my puppy 🙂

Preparing for Baby: Freezer Meals

As many of you know, I am expecting my second little girl any day now! I have been a busy little bee preparing for her impending arrival! I thought I would share with you all some ideas on what you can do in the last couple weeks leading up to baby! First on the list, stocking your freezer with some great meals you have prepared! Why do this? Well, you will be busy, busy, busy with the new baby and most likely won’t feel like cooking. Prepare a few meals ahead of time, freeze them and just heat up the amount you would like to eat! Trust me, it’s worth it 🙂

Easy 10 Freezer Meals:

1. Lasagna

  • 1 Box Lasagna Noodles
  • 1 Lb Ground beef
  • 1 Large jar Spaghetti sauce
  • 1 Medium Onion
  • 24 oz Cottage cheese
  • 1 Large Egg
  • 2 Tablespoons Parmesan cheese
  • 1 Lb Mozzarella cheese

Cook noodles until soft. Brown beef and onion in pan. Add spaghetti sauce. Combine cottage cheese, egg and Parmesan cheese in separate bowl. Layer noodles, then pasta sauce mixture, then cottage cheese mixture then mozzarella. Repeat 3 times, ending with mozzarella cheese. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.

2. Chicken and broccoli alfredo – Grill 2 Large Chicken Breast. Cook one bag of broccoli in microwave. Cook one large box of penne noodles (or whatever type you prefer). Mix all together in large bowl with one jar of alfredo sauce. Pour in disposable baking pan. Cover with foil and freeze.

Chicken and Broccoli Alfredo and Sausage Penne Pasta

3. Sausage penne pasta – Cook 12 oz turkey/chicken sausage/kielbasa. Cook one large box of penne noodles (or whatever type you prefer). Mix all together in large bowl with one jar of spaghetti sauce. Pour in disposable baking pan. Cover with foil and freeze.

Store pasta dishes in disposable pan to reduce dirty dishes to clean and free up your other pans for every day cooking.

4. Chili –

  • 1 Lb Ground beef
  • 1 Can Green beans
  • 1 Can Chili beans
  • 1 Can Pinto beans
  • 1 Can Diced tomatoes
  • 1 Small Can Tomato paste
  • 1 Can of Water
  • Chili powder to taste

Mix all ingredients together in large pot and allow to simmer. Allow to cool and freeze.

5. Tuna noodle casserole (or ‘hot dish’ for all you fellow Minnesotans!) –

  • 1 Large bag of Wide egg noodles
  • 1 Can Cream of Mushroom soup
  • 1 Can (drained) tuna
  • 1 Can Peas (Optional)
  • Garlic powder and pepper to taste
  • Pepper jack cheese

Cook noodles until soft. Mix all ingredients in oven-ready bowl. Top with desired amount of pepper jack cheese (or preferred cheese). Bake until cheese is browned.

6. Pot roast fixin’s – I filled 2 – 1 lb ziplock bags with cut up potatoes, baby carrots and onion. Season to taste.

7. Fajita fixin’s – Cut up 2 large green and 2 large red bell peppers and 1 large onion. Separate in half and freeze in 2 – 1 lb ziplock bags. When ready to eat, grill fixin’s in a pan, add grilled chicken (See below) and 1/2 packet taco seasoning.

8. Muffins –

Apple Oatmeal Muffins(Let’s Dish)

Coffeehouse Coffee Cake Muffins(Chocolate, Chocolate and More)

Dark Chocolate Blueberry Muffins (The Kitchen is my Playground)

9. Energy Bits – See recipe Here!

10. Grilled Chicken – Cook several chicken breasts and throw them in the freezer. Add them to fajitas, salads, etc…

I hope you found this useful! Stay tuned for my “Nesting Check-List!”

No nonsense Tights and Leggings Fashion

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of No nonsense for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

Now if you guys know me, you’ll know that I’m a little gaga for fashion. Most of the time, it takes me a while to put an outfit together so when I can find things that make life easier in that department, you can count me in. Typically, I’m into classic fashions; cardigans, flowy tops, that kind of thing. And I’m a sucker for dresses! Whenever I see a cute dress on sale, I usually end up buying it… if I can afford it!

What I love about fashion trends right now, are the colorful leggings and/or tights. They completely change a ‘blah’ outfit and make it trendy and modern. You can pair them with any traditional pieces you have in your closet and completely bring them back. Find bold accessories to complete the look.

Recently, I received a pair of No nonsense tights and leggings. They are beyond comfy but stylish as well! I styled a few outfits around them and wanted to share them with you guys.

no nonsense fashion

The tights that I received were super comfy, but yet stylish. I’m not sure how they did it, but I like it! Mine were heather gray, patterned tights with a control top. I love the control top part because it slims and is comfortable at the same time!

As for the leggings, they are a dark denim (as you can see in the photos) and actually look like jeggings (jean material) but they’re leggings! These are comfy as well, and yet stylish. You can pair them with pumps or boots and they still look cute! I especially love wearing leggings with boots because they fit inside the boot so nicely, and you don’t have the crammed-up excess material in the boot. My favorite part about these specific leggings is that they look fashionable, but they feel just as comfortable as sweats. You have to love that!

Where to Find Them

You can find No nonsense items at food and drug stores as well as mass retail stores. That’s the joy of No nonsense! 🙂 I took this picture at Coborn’s and they had all kinds of options! Their tights and leggings are not only affordable, but durable too.

The New Face of No nonsense

A fun new tidbit about No nonsense, they’ve got a new face to represent them! Jill Martin, a true fashion expert and TV personality along with the co-author of style guide “I Have Nothing to Wear!” will be partnering with No nonsense. Jill is also the New York Correspondent for Access Hollywood, and now she’s your go-to girl for wearing No nonsense’s new colorful and high impact tights and leggings.

You’ll want to keep up with them on their Facebook and Twitter to see their upcoming events. They will even be hosting a Facebook contest where one lucky winner (and a friend) will get to meet Jill in New York City for a shopping spree and loads of style advice.
