Crystal Light Drink Mixes Review

Nope, this isn’t a sponsored post as much as I wish it was because I abso-freaking-lutely love these things. I’ve been trying to drink more water lately to help flush out my system (lose weight, right? yay) so water and lots of water!

Also, I got tired of drinking coffee, and the coffee I didn’t get tired of drinking was about 400 calories per drink. Naturally. But I needed the caffeine because I am NOT a morning person – or afternoon person πŸ˜‰ So my first thing I tried was the Crystal Light Energy drink mix (wild strawberry) and I was totally delighted. It tasted like a yummy juice mix, but it actually did give me energy! I was surprised, I didn’t actually think it would give me energy. I stocked up on these now, as they are 5 calories and they give me my water intake along with some energy! Go team!

The next thing I tried was the Crystal Light mojito mix. I had read someone’s tweet that said they were drinking one and it was just as good as the real thing! So I just had to try it for myself and it was delicious!

I also bought the Crystal Light margarita mix but haven’t had a chance to try it yet, but if it’s anything like the mojito mix, it’ll be amazing.

Honey drinks the Raspberry Peach mix with fiber and loves it… I tells ya, they’re doing something right!

Well those are my recommendations, I hope it helps you out with your next drink selection πŸ™‚

Making Homemade Wine

So I meant to post a while back when the hubs and I finally bottled our wine. I told you we were making our own wine, right? Anyway, it was a really fun process and I think we will be doing it again. We ended up choosing a sweet red wine for our first batch and it made 30 bottles! Yowza, we got gifts for a while πŸ˜‰ ;

I wanted to share the pics because it was pretty cool!

Here are the bottles before we corked them. ;

Here is the hubby filling them up with the siphon.
And apparently i dont have as many pics as i thought! Lol and I don’t have any pics of them corked and labeled yet but I will get those! ;

So much fun, but we have to wait about three months until we an taste it… Hope it was worth it!
Hearts, ;

So Much to Do and Say!

I feel like I’ve let you guys down. I haven’t written in ages (okay a week) and for that I’m sorry but – be still, my heart, there is much to talk about tonight! So let’s get started, shall we?

Minnesota Fitness

I suppose we’ll start with fitness. The journey has been average as of late. I haven’t lost any more weight, but I’ve maintained my 16 pound weight loss. I still have 4 more to go, so I can smell victory, hopefully soon. Hubby and I have taken to different activities that are fun. This includes (and/or has included):

  • Tabata
  • Pilates
  • Zumba
  • Latin Hip Hop
  • Kickboxing
  • Running (blah, not so fun)

On the non-gym related scene, we’ve also started taking daily walks at night (or at least try to if we have time). We tried hiking, curling, and I even bought Zumba fitness 2 for wii. SOOO fun, by the way πŸ™‚

It’s been an experiment, essentially – but when you find something that works, go with it!

Shopaholic Novels

Onto the next topic, let’s discuss my obsession in books – Sophie Kinsella. On Valentine’s Day she released her newest novel, “I’ve Got Your Number” and it was absolutely phenomenal. Seriously, I couldn’t put it down. But I’m like that with all of her books. You might recognize her name when I say she wrote the Shopaholic series of books. I love her books. Have I mentioned that?

Anyways, I finished her newest novel (433 pages) in three days. It was amazing. Have you read it yet? If not, you can get it in stores or you can buy it online (that’s what I did) at Amazon here.

Minnesota Dining

In the next order of business, I have a new restaurant that I must share with you. For a belated Valentine’s dinner (hubby hates crowds) we went to the most divine restaurant I have been to in a long time. Seriously – I’ve raved about it for a week now! It is located in downtown St. Paul, and it’s called Trattoria da Vinci. Some of the best Italian food around if you ask me!

We actually had found a deal on LivingSocial for them ($25 for $50 worth of food and drinks) that we used. It was so good. Have I mentioned that? So good.

When we got there, we were immediately seated. Right away, they brought warm DELICIOUS bread. The bread was so stinking good. I was so happy that we got to bring home what was left in our basket. We ordered some wine (and hubby a beer) and browsed the menu. But what we couldn’t pass up on was the pasta bar. If you know me at all, you’ll know that I’m a HUGE fan of pasta bars. But this one, oh boy. This one was the mother of all pasta bars. It had everything you could dream of and it was SO TASTY. I never use all caps, so you should understand that I thoroughly enjoyed all of this wonderful experience.

Not only was the food delicious, but it was more than plentiful. We had to get a box for both of our meals because it was so much. And the next day, hubs and I split my leftovers and it was more than enough! Yum.

So. Good.

You can even make a reservation with them on OpenTable if you wish – get 100 points!! πŸ™‚

Alright, well that’s what I have for now. I’m a tired girl! Until next time!

Twin Cities Winter Date Night

Ohhhhh boy what a night! My hubby and I had planned to eat out but that’s all we had in mind. What ended up happening was probably one of my favorite nights in a long time! Here’s how it went down.

Firstly, DH got a gift card from his work to Tucci Benucch at the Mall of America – I had never tried it before, and either had he, so we figured what time better than the present!? I made a reservation on OpenTable (love this app, by the way… if you don’t have it, get it) so when we showed up, we were seated in less than 5 minutes. Everyone else was waiting 45 minutes. Did the reservation pay off? You bet it did.

Let me just tell you, the food here was AMAZING. I’d heard good things, but I was very pleasantly surprised with just how splendid it was. Hubs got a chicken fettuccine alfredo and I went for the angel hair pom0doro. His meal was awesome, he absolutely loved it. Mine was equally amazing. I’d requested that instead of the pomodoro sauce be swapped with a pesto/alfredo mixture.

NUM!!! So good.

They also bring you some fresh bread with olive oil when you first sit down. Restaurants like this are my favorite because I’m usually very hungry by this point. They had beer on tap (of course DH had to ask) and I had a Cabernet. It was seriously the best meal out that we’ve had in a long time. We’d definitely go again if we could afford it – lol! The meals were around $17 a plate (give or take) plus drinks so it was a little more expensive than we usually go for but it was definitely worth it.

AAAAAND… since we were at the Mall of America, we couldn’t not shop a little bit, right? So I talked him into going to some of my favorite stores. I got some really cute workout clothes from Marshall’s and Forever21. The nice thing about new, cute exercise clothes is that you want a chance to wear them so of course, it’s more motivation to get to the gym. A real stroke of genius, I know.

We’d seen a bus for Mystic Lake Casino on our way into the mall and kicked around the idea. So after we had hit up some shops, we decided to go ‘all in’ and head to the casino. Apparently hubs was feeling lucky and I was feeling like unlimited soda so off we went!!

DH allotted me $20 and took $40 for himself. (Where’s the trust? I know… But you’ll understand by the end of the story) He sat down at one blackjack table for about 45 minutes. I walked around playing penny slots, 5 cent games, 50 cent games and I even took a chance and played a $1 game. After about 20 minutes, I was at $13.00 and he was at about $80. He was getting comfy so I filled up my cherry pepsi and kept walking around. You won’t believe what I found…

A Sex and the City game!!!!!

*Pause for drool wiping*

I waited and waited for my turn at the machine, then finally I got my chance. I pushed buttons and before I knew it…

I had 5 cents left.

Game over me.

Back to the pepsi machine.

Back to hubby’s game. He was at around $120.

I used the powder room.

Pepsi machine.

Finally the hubs found me and showed me a handful of chips. “Ok – and that is?” He says, “$160 and I’m ready to go when you are. How’d you do?”

I handed him my little ticket print out for 5 cents.

Now you know why he only gave me $20.

Luckily he laughed and said as a team we were still up $100 – go team!

We drove home through the snow and laughed with some new stories and me, with a caffeine high.

It was a really fun night – and the best part about it is that we really didn’t plan it to be that way. We went with the flow with an open mind. Sometimes that’s just what you gotta do I guess!

Oh, but definitely make dinner reservations, because that’d just be crazy.

Big hearts,

Minnesota Restaurants Date Night Specials

If you’re a veteran to our site, you’ll know that Macy and I are all about date nights with our hubbies. But, being frugal and such, we don’t frequent expensive restaurants around the Twin Cities too often. But when we find a good restaurant with good prices, we pass them along to our readers so that you guys can enjoy them too.

When I was browsing some new date night ideas around the Twin Cities, I found this article published on which is a Dinner for Two Guide. It’s super nice to have on hand when you’re looking to go out to eat somewhere but are not sure where. The guide also features what other activities the restaurants have going on and specials that they offer depending on the night that you go – perfect!!!

Besides restaurants, it also has a little ‘Miscellaneous’ section at the bottom that features Date night yoga (FUN!) and even a date night pottery class. Both of these sound way fun to me, and you betcha that the hubs will be drug along for the fun πŸ™‚ Naturally.

Boring date nights are now a thing of the past. Stick with us, you’ll go places. (Literally) lol!

Too much fun.
